what is the point of this tournament anyways? to get aot more popular? or just for fun?

well, why not have a tournament for players who are still learning? There is no possibility of a pro beating them, so it's a tournament where everyone that signs up can enjoy and play to win!
Also, its to inspire activity of course as well as inspiring players who are still learning, to keep learning

i have absolutely no idea.
ratings are so obscure on aot because of all the stuff like autoque and stuff....
i'm not gonna get into a huge discussion or argument about it, but things like that 'even out the playing field', so skill is not as blatant.

ignoring those prizes(+1 luci) if u look just on tourney...its a gud idea to improve activity also providing chances for improving skills for those players...hope pro ppl dont participate in it with a new accnt XD

You mis-understood.
The guys(1650-), whom you are searching for the tourney, are all on GR(I'd say 70% of the total AoTers of GR are 1650-), & you'll have to advertise there, not on the forum.
The only persons who even check this forum are those who are posting now(abt 5-10 people maximum maybe; and all of them are 1650+ )
