if you are really better than your opponent it shouldnt matter.luck plays a factor in getting screwed for positions of things like tc's. gold, starting food, and what kind of relics there are. like being thor and getting the armory tecks 10% less expensive relic is pretty lucky or if your hades and get the + building hp and a plus tower attack relic i would consider those pretty lucky and gives you an advantage. if you think someone got lucky though cus they beat you just play best out of 3 matches

have no time for 3 matches on a row,
Neutral
besides, what ure gonna say?
"Hm.. sry i lost because a lion ate my villies at start, can we rmk?"
sounds like a noob ass... but it might be true.
Im talking about small details like having rhinos and gazelles together or 2 herds of giraffes, more than 5 trees near ur TC. Small details on a balanced match might make the difference?

having a villy die because of a lion has nothing to do with luck its just bad micro.

Gold,tc,hunt and even wood placement can totally screw you over.
Just yesterday I had only 1 zebra on the entire half of my map.

The maps in which the gold is sided more in one side of a map[ Ex: GhostLake, Alfheim] is the most irritating . When the enemy takes control of their golds, we have only one gold mine left or none left .. & Also in some maps, ur tcs[settlements] are also in the enemy's side of map(Marsh I think)

come on men how can u say tht there is no luck factor in maps ....
first of all type of map u got in random map is luck lol....food source(wild animals)sometimes ur enemy gets thm in plenty and u hav just 2 deers lol.... position of gold mines, trees, postion of water (many times u get tcs close to water side u can easliy knock thm with seige ships),postion of fishes, position of players(sometimes very close few times very far)
one of the important factor type of RELICS,,,they can surely make a diffrnce...
and a sideway other thn factor is team lol if u hav cursed luck u will get noobs in ur team making u piss off...11
if u take random god and ur enemy too the type of god u get is LUCK 0.0
no doubt u need skill to win bt luck definately play its role in game....

I remember one game where Themista and magyar played against Nigam and some lower level expert. You would think Themista and Magyar = easy win. Themis had messed up food and had to start farming as soon as he hit classical which is pretty damn bad when playing as greeks. They ended up forcing his ceasefire just as Magyar was building his midgol.

A single thing like bad food can instantly mess up your game completely. So yes imbalanced map is definately a luck orientated factor. The reason its hard to make it fair when a computer randomly constructs a map is that both sides have to be different otherwise you can always figure out exactly where your opponents resources are. Its sad but true Smile

I'm not saying that I'm a expert but if your opponent is hunting and you HAVE TO farm then why not take his hunt. I'm thinking it's classical and the hunt is out of tower reach.........

Ok, but the time to scout completely the map takes at least 4 minutes, and if you have to cross the whole map with your vills, you'll lost precious time and he's gonna make an army and kill your vills once at classical... and maybe you'll not have the time to launch the upgrade.
